A 14-year-old girl from Jharkhand was found locked in a cupboard in a
businessman’s home in Gurgaon on Wednesday, with signs of abuse on her
body, reports the Deccan Herald.
The girl was found in an unconscious state in the closet, with a deep cut on her back, swollen eyes and legs, and bruises below her waist. The girl has alleged that she was beaten up and starved by her employers.
Earlier on Wednesday, the police had received a complaint from a neighbour but could not find the girl when they raided the house. On receiving a second complaint via the helpline, the police returned to the businessman’s house with activists from Shakti Bahini, an NGO, and found the girl unconscious in the closet.
The girl is currently being treated in a hospital, while the police investigate the case.
