Twitter outburst in Pakistan over Dawn article on 1965 Indo-Pak war

Twitter saw an outburst on Saturday after Pakistan's newspaper Dawn published an article on the 1965 Indo-Pak war on its website titled 'History in Pakistan has been badly treated', which spawned the trending hashtag #DawnPawnOfModi, where the national daily was branded as the mouthpiece of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The article by Maleeha Hamid Siddiqui discussing the speech by noted historian and political economist Dr S. Akbar Zaidi at an event organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Karachi University, saw a flare-up on Twitter. Major outrage broke out on the issue of Dr. Zaidi calling Pakistan's claim of winning the 1965 Indo-Pak War, the 'biggest lie'.
"With Pakistan just two days away from observing Defence Day and marking the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war, historian and political economist Dr S Akbar Zaidi dispelled 'the victory myth', saying that there can be no bigger lie, as Pakistan lost terribly," read the article in Dawn.
As the title suggested, Dr Zaidi talked about the poor quality of history taught in Pakistan's schools, which left students 'completely unaware about the history of the Baloch and the Pakhtun'.
"History in Pakistan is taught from an ideological viewpoint. Pakistan needs to be seen as a geographical entity," the article quoted Dr Zaidi. Dr Zaidi is a history teacher at the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.
