Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV is an alter ego of the D4 BS III trim in terms of styling and equipments other than the sole difference of BS IV compliant engine powering the former. The variant gets few additional features apart from the standard provisions available on the D2 range. Exteriors of D4  variant boasts of body coloured front and rear bumpers, body coloured tail-gate appliqué, footstep with integrated front mud flaps, wheel covers instead of the silver painted rim and rear wash and wipe. Cabin is also inset with a handful of additional features like digital/analog clock, roof console for spectacle holder, fabric upholstery with PVC inserts and power windows. However when it comes to safety, D4 is similarly equipped as D2 variants and comes devoid of eminent safety equipments such as airbags, anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and intellipark reverse assist. D4 BS IV is available for sale at Rs 8.48 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi price).

Front fascia is fitted with suave head lamps, black grille, body coloured bumper, while chrome embellishment is missing in the front and rear along with front/rear fog lamps. Besides these, side body graphics and rear decals are also not available on the variant, but it gets wheel arch cladding, body coloured tail-gate appliqué, sporty roof rails , rear wash & wipe, footstep with integrated front mud flaps, air-dam with fog lamp insert and wheel cover instead of the silver painted rim.  Rear too flaunts body coloured bumper unlike the D2 trim. And unpainted outside rear view mirrors and handles are incorporated on either side.

Seats are fitted with fabric upholstery with PVC inserts which looks elegant with premium black and beige dual tone colour scheme. Cabin offers black centre bezel, digital/analog clock, integrated roof console fro spectacle holder, on console mobile charging points, 1+1 courtesy lamp, sunvisor for driver and passenger. For the comfort and convenience of the occupants, air conditioner with heating and ventilation function, surround cool dual ACs, bets-in-class individual AC vents, power tilt steering, power windows, central locking, illumination key ring, half floor console and electric remote fuel opener have been integrated in the cabin.


Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV Engine & Transmission

Mahindra has employed a 2.5 litre, mDI CRDe, BS III complaint diesel engine that churns out top power of 95 PS at 3600 RPM along with peak torque of 218 Nm between 1400 to 2600 RPM. A  NGT 520 V1 five-speed manual gearbox is synchronized to the diesel engine.

Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV Mileage

Fuel efficiency delivered by D4 trim is decent enough, in-fact it slightly more than the 2.2 litre equipped variants in the range. D4 BS IV is claimed to deliver ARAI certified fuel economy of 14.88 kmpl.

Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV Performance & Handling

Performance delivered by D4 BS IV is good enough, the variant rushes to 100 kmph from rest within 12.95 seconds and hits top speed of 161 kmph. However, handling is not as good as expected, there is still some scope for improvement as it is not as agile as in other Mahindra UVs.

Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV Braking & Safety

Braking system includes disc brakes fitted in the front and drum brakes inset in the rear.  The variant is also deprived of anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution. Safety equipment such as dual driver and co-passenger airbags and intellipark reverse assist are missing. However, D4 BS IV gets engine immobiliser, this is the only vital safety feature available on the trim.

Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV Pros & Cons

 Pros: Spacious cabin, improved exteriors and competitively priced.
 Cons: Handling is sloppy, lacks various safety and comfort features.
