Mumbai: Many actresses might shy away from calling
themselves feminists, but Priyanka Chopra has no qualms in admitting
that she is an absolute believer in feminism.
The 33-year-old actress said feminism is not an anti-male concept and, in fact, is about a conversation about gender equality.
"I
am an extremely proud feminist. I am someone who believes feminism is
just a conversation about equality. It is not about hating or berating
men. For eons, women have been treated as second class citizens and it's
high time we are given the due credit," Priyanka told reporters here at
the trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Jai Gangaajal’.
The actress said the movie is an attempt to blur the lines between a man and a woman. The
actress, a former Miss Universe, was asked about her reaction on the
recent goof up at the fianle of coveted pageant, where the host named
Miss Colombia the next Miss Universe instead of the real winner, Miss Philippines.
"It
is so bad. If that would have happened with me, I would've... I feel so
sorry for Miss Columbia," Priyanka said. She is being praised for her
performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Bajirao Mastani’ but the actress
revealed she was yet to watch the film.
"I haven't even watched
Bajirao Mastani by the way. I haven't watched any film... The whole
world is calling me and talking about Kashibai but I don't know how I've
worked in the film."
