The 6th Jagran Film Festival concluded in
Mumbai with a star-studded awards night. Eminent personalities of the
film industry gathered to witness members of the film fraternity getting
acknowledged and applauded for their cinematic achievements across 25
award categories.
Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at the event by Shyam Benegal.
Dulal Sarkar won the Best Actor (Male) for
an outstanding performance in ‘Chotoder Chobi’. Bhumi Pednekar bagged
the Best Actor (Female) award for her portrayal of Sandhya in ‘Dum Laga
Ke Haisha’. Shoojit Sarkar was adjudged the Best Director for the second
consecutive year at Jagran for his film ‘Piku’. Kaushik
Ganguly’s ‘Chotoder Chobi’ was declared Best Feature Film. Veteran
make-up artiste Pandhari Juker was honoured with the Outstanding
Contribution to Indian Cinema title.
Neeraj Ghaywan was honoured as the Best
Debut Director for his maiden attempt in the internationally acclaimed
Indian film ‘Masaan’. Award for Best Screenplay went to Juhi Chaturvedi
for her work in ‘Piku’. Pooja Ladha Surti won the award for Best Editing
for ‘Badlapur’. Sanjay Wandrekar and Atul Raninga won laurels for Best
Background Score for their musical creation in ‘PK’. Best Sound Design
was bagged by Anish John for ‘Asha Jaoar Majhe’ (Labor of Love). Pankaj
Kumar’s discerning eye behind the camera in ‘Haider’ bagged him the Best
Cinematography Award. Jyoti Nooran won the Best Singer Female Award for
her melodious renditions in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and Sukhwinder’s
musical notes in ‘Haider’ bagged him the Best Singer Male Award. Vishal
Bharadwaj was declared the Best Music Director for his compositions for
‘Haider’.
The winning spree for ‘Haider’ continued
with Tabu bagging the Best Female Supporting Actor title for her
power-packed portrayal. Sanjay Mishra won the Best Male Supporting
Actor award for ‘Masaan’.
Abhimanyu Kanodia’s ‘Kathakaar’ won the
Best Short Film award, while Sri Swara bagged the Special Jury Award for
her acting in short film ‘Teaspoon’. Vandana Kataria bagged the
laurels for Best Set Design for ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze for Cinema of
the Sellers were picked up by ‘Fevi Kwik Parade Campaign’, ‘Skymet
Weather’s Initiative: #HelpTheFarmer’ and ‘Sony Max Pepsi IPL 2015:
India Ka Tyohaar Main Film – Sweet Shop’, respectively.
Special Jury Awards went to Vicky Kaushal for his performance in ‘Masaan’ and Gajendra Ahire for his film ‘Postcard’.
Director Sachin Kundalkar’s Hindi family
drama ‘Rajwade And Sons’ as the closing film concluded the film
screenings of this stupendous film extravaganza at the 6th Jagran
Film Festival. Besides being the film’s World Premiere, the presence of
the entire lead cast made the momentous screening extraordinary.
The 2015 edition of Jagran Film Festival
traversed from Delhi to the Indian hinterlands of Kanpur, Lucknow,
Allahabad, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Dehradun, Hisar, Ludhiana, Patna,
Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Raipur, Indore, and Bhopal, before culminating in
Mumbai.
Held in close collaboration with festival
partners such as Whistling Woods International, Film Federation of
India, Motion Picture Association and Asia Pacific Screen Awards,
workshops remained a highlight at the 6th Jagran Film
Festival right till the last day, especially with film veterans Anjum
Rajabali’s session on screen writing, Kunal Kapoor’s session on crowd
funding of films, and visual effects director Srinivas Mohan’s
(‘Baahubali’) session, among others.
