TRICHY: Social media has made entry into cinema much easier for many talented filmmakers. There have been several stories of young short filmmakers who uploaded videos of their work on the internet and were later picked out by mainstream directors and producers. The growth of technology has also made the process of filmmaking much simpler.
Unlike the earlier years, when it was difficult to get noticed, talented directors and actors are now able to give their work widespread exposure through online platforms. A basic phone camera is enough for students to learn things like camera angles and other basics, and they can develop from there, said Thirunavurkarusu P, one of the writers for Nizhal magazine, a film-based magazine that comes out every two months.
He added that earlier, a talented student aiming to make big in cinema had to undergo several hardships and tests before they even get noticed by a director in the film industry, But the advent of social media has made it simpler, as students are just able to log in to the website and upload the videos. Once it gets noticed, offers from the cinema world are not far behind.
