Bangalore residents have been continuously raising their voice against the bad state of the civic issues in the city but the authorities hardly pay any attention to the problems. This is what triggered BG Sreedhhar, an Indiranagar based artist to show his dissent using cartoons about the way the authorities are handling civic issues.
Speaking with iamin, Sreedhhar, who is a landscape designer by profession, said, “I used to sketch cartoons as a child but due to my professional commitments I was not able to continue. Seeing the mess in Bangalore I took to sketching after a span of 20 years again.” He considers garbage, potholes, traffic snarls and issues related to safety of women as the main problems that the city needs to tackle.
'People related to issues through cartoons'
“Through cartoons people can relate to the problems in a much better way. I wanted them to understand and think about the problems that they are dealing with every day,” the 50-year-old explained. Sreedhhar spends two to three days mulling over the concept and just 30 minutes to sketch it.

He has received positive feedback for his sketches from the people who have seen it on social media so far. His sketches are based on all that he observes around him.
A supportive family
“My family members also enjoy my cartoons and are very supportive. Only after my cartoons got popular on social media my relatives found out that I was so good in cartooning. Now they wait for my cartoons,” added Shreedhhar who is father to a son and a daughter.
